Study Deadlines
By J.D. Myers | March 22, 2009
I think if I am going to make any progress on this commentary at all, I am going to have to change my study procedure somewhat, and provide some self-imposed deadlines.
My procedure so far has been to study the text, write the commentary, then do validation research by reading the commentaries on the passage. By comparing the text I posted on the blog portion with what is currently in the forum, you can see the changes that I made.
However, I am realizing that I have much less time to study each week than anticipated. Furthermore, I am finding that while the reading of other commentaries has been helpful, it has, for the most, only confirmed what I have already written on my own. So going forward, I will probably limit the amount of reading I do from other sources. I can always go back and do research as needed. That’s one of the benefits of an online, editable commentary!
Also, I am going to try to impose some deadlines on myself. Right now, I’m averaging about 10 verses a month. This is way too slow. I need to be doing at least 10 verses a week. So that is my goal.
